TextButler
AI assistant for iMessage and WhatsApp that answers when you say 'butler'
Visit textbutler.app ↗What is TextButler?
TextButler is an AI butler that runs on your Mac and responds to messages in iMessage, WhatsApp, and Beeper when someone writes "butler" in a one-to-one chat. Every reply is clearly marked with a 🤖 indicator so recipients know it's from an AI, not you. The assistant reads your notes about each person and recent conversation history to craft contextual responses.
You choose which contacts can trigger the butler and which AI model powers it—local models, your own API key, or a subscription service. The tool includes safety checks like rate limits and an 8-second delay to batch rapid messages. Currently in development for Mac, it works end-to-end on iMessage and can be set up by Claude Code, Codex, or Devin.
