Privacy policy

This page lists everything vibetrend.dev stores about you and why. We keep as little as we can.
What do you store if I create an account?
- Your account handle.
- A scrypt hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
- The votes you cast and the products you submit.
What cookies and local storage do you use?
vt_session: an httpOnly session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is not readable by JavaScript and is not used for tracking.- Your light/dark theme preference, saved in your browser’s localStorage. It never leaves your device.
vt_vid: a random, anonymous visitor id (httpOnly, first-party, 13 months). It lets us remember what you looked at on vibetrend so we can show you relevant suggestions, such as how apps in a category you browse are doing. It is linked to your account only if you sign in. We do not use device fingerprinting.
Do you track what I click?
We count outbound clicks to listed products. To count unique clicks, we compute a salted hash of your IP address and user agent that changes every day. The raw IP address and user agent are not stored, and the hashes are purged after 2 days.
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, clicks, scrolling and anonymised session replays) so we can improve it. Clarity sets its own cookies and processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Form inputs are masked. We do not use ad trackers or sell your data.
With the vt_vid cookie we also keep a first-party log of the pages you view on vibetrend, how long you stay and how far you scroll, and whether you start a launch or a checkout. We use it only on vibetrend, to personalise suggestions and improve the site; it is never shared or sold, and it is deleted after 90 days. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we record nothing and show no personalised suggestions. To have your history deleted, email [email protected].
How are payments handled?
Payments for promotions are processed by Razorpay. We store the Razorpay order and payment IDs so we can match a payment to a listing. We never see or store card details.
Where is the data hosted?
On AWS in the Mumbai (ap-south-1) region, behind Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes requests in transit to protect the site and serve it quickly.
Do you sell or share my data?
No. We only share data with the providers above as needed to run the site and process payments.
Emails to project owners
If a project listed on vibetrend has a publicly visible email on its owner's GitHub profile or commits, we may send up to four short messages about listing and promotion options. We record whether each message was delivered, opened and which links were clicked, to decide what to send next. Every message has an unsubscribe link, or reply to [email protected], and we stop immediately.
How do I get my data deleted?
Email [email protected] from the address you want to act on, or tell us your handle. We will delete your account, votes and submissions on request.
