Persist OS
Memory system for AI coding agents that lives in your repository
Visit persist-os.pages.dev ↗What is Persist OS?
Persist OS is a local CLI tool that gives coding agents persistent memory across sessions by storing decisions, rules, and lessons as plain Markdown files in your repository. It works with Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, recording architectural decisions with history, documenting reasons for non-obvious code patterns, and providing context cards for different areas of a project.
The tool includes a "doctor" that checks on every commit whether recorded decisions and conventions still match the actual code, flagging drift or missing documentation. Built for developers who want AI agents to understand project context and maintain standards as they work, Persist OS runs entirely locally without network requirements and is MIT licensed.
