Visit openpencil.dev ↗What is OpenPencil?
OpenPencil is an open-source design editor that natively opens .fig files and enables copy-paste compatibility with Figma. It includes built-in AI with 90+ tools for creating and modifying designs through chat, a headless Vue SDK for building custom editors, and a programmable CLI for inspection and automation. The project describes itself as an open-source Figma alternative.
The editor supports real-time P2P collaboration via WebRTC, design-to-code export (JSX/Tailwind), component and variant management, and image vectorization. It runs locally as a ~7 MB desktop app or web app with no account or internet required. Released under the MIT license, it integrates with Claude Code and other AI agents via an MCP server.
