NEXT HMI is an open-source HMI/SCADA system that replaces proprietary industrial control panels with a self-hosted server. It connects PLCs via OPC-UA and delivers operator screens to any web browser. Built for plant operators, integrators, and machine builders, it runs on Windows, macOS, and Docker with no installation required.
Key features include an in-browser editor with live OPC-UA data binding, alarms with acknowledgement, recipes, user permissions, and historian. Projects are stored as plain JSON and CSV files for version control. Free for in-plant use; €149 per device for machine builders shipping it to customers. Built with Claude Code.
