Meeting Transcriber
Local-first macOS app that records and transcribes calls without cloud upload
Visit meetingtranscriber.app ↗What is Meeting Transcriber?
Meeting Transcriber is a menu bar app for macOS that automatically records Teams, Zoom, and Webex calls, then transcribes and summarizes them entirely on your device. The creator built it as an alternative to cloud-based services like Otter and Fireflies, prioritizing privacy by keeping all audio local. It captures app audio and microphone separately to prevent voice blending, uses on-device transcription via WhisperKit or Parakeet, and performs speaker diarization with FluidAudio.
The app generates Markdown summaries with decisions and action items, and lets you choose your summarization model—Claude, Ollama, LM Studio, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint—keeping the entire pipeline offline. It's free, open-source under MIT license, and requires no account or subscription.
