Inky Bird Frame
Display reviewed bird illustrations on e-ink displays from your sightings
Visit henrysowell.com ↗What is Inky Bird Frame?
Inky Bird Frame turns bird observations into illustrated field-journal plates for color e-paper displays mounted on walls. It aggregates sightings from iNaturalist, eBird, BirdWeather, BirdNET, and Bird Buddy feeders, then displays them as beautiful, researched artwork. The project describes itself as community-built, with a catalog of 176 plates that have been reviewed and approved before appearing.
Users can self-host the controller on Docker, Raspberry Pi, or Mac/Linux machines. When displaying a bird species for the first time, the system researches authoritative sources, generates an illustration, and runs factual and visual review before the image appears on the display. All discovery data remains private to the user.
