Browser hand gesture recognition for games and interactive apps
Visit abouchedidxcode.github.io ↗What is Hand Gesture Kit · Demo?
Hand Gesture Kit is a TypeScript library that detects hand poses, motions, and two-hand gestures from webcam input in the browser. Built on Google's MediaPipe Hand Landmarker, it recognizes 20 poses (fist, peace sign, thumbs up, etc.), 16 motions (swipes, circles, waves), and 5 two-hand gestures (clap, zoom, steering), plus continuous values like pinch strength and palm position. Video processing stays on-device. The kit powers games like Show of Hands, GODHAND, and Starbreaker.
Designed for developers building hand-controlled browser games or interactive experiences. Includes a starter game template in three.js, Gesture Lab for testing gestures live, synthetic hands for testing without a webcam, and documentation for coding agents. About 1,600 lines of dependency-free code with built-in smoothing to prevent gesture flicker.
