GeneGuessr
Daily protein guessing game using 3D structures and molecular clues
Visit geneguessr.brinedew.bio ↗What is GeneGuessr?
GeneGuessr is a daily web puzzle game where players identify human proteins from their 3D structures. Each day presents a new protein model, and players make up to 10 guesses to determine which gene produced it. The game provides hints about protein domains, biological pathways, molecular functions, and tissue specificity, with a feedback system showing how close each guess is to the target.
Designed primarily for biologists but accessible to anyone, the game draws data from UniProt, NCBI Gene, Gene Ontology, InterPro, Reactome, and AlphaFold. Players earn additional hints for each guess they make. The creator built GeneGuessr with Claude over two months, using Linear MCP for project management and Playwright MCP for testing.
