Fugleramme
Real-time bird detection displayed on e-ink or any screen using local AI
Visit arnegiacomo.dev ↗What is Fugleramme?
Fugleramme is a bird identification frame for Raspberry Pi that listens via microphone to detect birds in real time using BirdNET-Go, a local AI classifier. Detected species are matched to hand-curated illustrations from 1800s natural-history drawings and rendered as a collage on an e-ink panel, TV, or web display. The project was built using Claude AI coding tools.
The system displays over 500 bird species across more than 1000 public-domain illustrations, sized by real body mass and arranged on a textured page. Users can configure detection settings, display modes, and species coverage through an admin interface. Fugleramme can run its own BirdNET-Go instance or connect to an existing one on the same machine or network.
