Aerial is an open-source Android TV home screen designed after tvOS, replacing the default interfaces on Chinese TV brands like Xiaomi and TCL. It removes ads and recommendation feeds, showing only your apps, chosen wallpapers, and Apple TV-style aerial screensavers with 114 clips. The launcher survives system cleanup through a guardian service that intercepts the HOME key and auto-restarts after forced stops. Installation uses ADB debugging or AI agents (Claude Code, Cursor) to automate setup without requiring root access or system app modifications.

Features include a large clock overlay, 5-app-per-row grid with focus effects, long-press reordering, a control center for inputs and settings, daily Bing wallpapers or personal photos uploaded via phone QR code, and full app discovery including hidden system apps. Supports Android TV 5.0+.
