Universal Commerce Protocol
Open standard for interoperable agentic commerce across platforms and businesses
Visit ucp.dev ↗What is Universal Commerce Protocol?
Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) is an open standard that enables different commerce platforms, AI agents, businesses, and payment providers to communicate and transact without custom integrations. It provides standardized building blocks for the entire commerce lifecycle—from product discovery and search through checkout, identity linking, and order management—allowing systems to interoperate across retail, lodging, food, and other industries.
UCP is designed for agentic commerce, where AI agents act on behalf of users to discover products, build carts, and complete purchases securely. The protocol is transport-agnostic, working via REST APIs, Model Context Protocol, and Agent-to-Agent communication, and built on proven standards including OAuth 2.0, JSON-RPC, and the Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) for secure transactions.
