Squad
Human-directed AI agent teams that live in your repo and grow with your code
Visit bradygaster.github.io ↗What is Squad?
Squad is a CLI tool that coordinates multiple AI agents working as specialized team members—frontend, backend, tester, lead—within your GitHub repository. Users describe what they're building, and Squad orchestrates parallel work across agents while keeping humans in control of priorities, approvals, and final decisions. The tool persists team state and decisions as inspectable files in your repo, reducing context-switching and enabling agents to learn your codebase conventions across sessions.
Built with GitHub Copilot integration, Squad emphasizes responsible AI through built-in governance features like file-write guards, PII scrubbing, and reviewer lockout. It's designed as a productivity multiplier for individual developers and teams, not a replacement for human engineers. The project is MIT open source and currently in alpha, with a TypeScript-first SDK for defining team configurations.
