SDD Pilot is an open-source framework that adds specification and planning layers to AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Windsurf. Instead of jumping directly to code generation, it enforces a phase-gated workflow: Specify → Plan → Tasks → Implement → QC, with quality gates preventing teams from skipping ahead.
Each phase has a dedicated AI agent (Product Manager, Architect, Engineer, QA) and produces structured artifacts stored in a specs directory. The framework includes ambiguity detection using five pattern-based strategies, requirement traceability linking tasks to functional requirements, and an optional autopilot mode to run the full pipeline unattended. It works with multiple AI coding tools and is available as MIT-licensed open source on GitHub.
