Scopa AI is a browser-based implementation of Scopa, a classic Italian capture card game. Players can compete against three levels of CPU opponents, including an expert mode using Monte Carlo tree search with perfect memory, or challenge LLM-based opponents powered by Claude, GPT, or Gemini (using your own API keys). The game also supports real-time multiplayer matches via WebSocket and a spectator mode to watch AI battles unfold.
The maker, a physicist, built Scopa AI using Claude Code. The platform includes both Scopa and Briscola (another Italian card game), with language support for English and Italian. An interesting finding from development: the MCTS CPU opponent consistently outperforms the LLM opponents in gameplay.
