Visit rec-rs.vercel.app ↗What is Rec?
Rec is a macOS screen and camera recorder that captures your display, system audio, microphone, and webcam into a single file compatible with Final Cut Pro, Premiere, and DaVinci Resolve. It offers replay buffer functionality (15–300 seconds), live streaming over RTMP/RTMPS or WHIP, and keyboard shortcuts for quick access. Built entirely in Rust using Apple frameworks (ScreenCaptureKit, AVCaptureSession, VideoToolbox), it supports H.264, HEVC, and ProRes 422 codecs at constant frame rates up to 4K 60fps.
Designed for content creators and video producers who need a lightweight alternative to OBS. The app runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs (macOS 15+) with no external dependencies like FFmpeg or Electron. Developed using Claude Code.
