PanicLock
Instantly disable Touch ID and lock your Mac with one click or keyboard shortcut

PanicLock is a macOS menu bar utility designed for travelers, journalists, lawyers, and activists who need rapid security switches. It provides a one-click button, customizable hotkey, or automatic lid-close trigger to instantly disable biometric authentication and lock your screen, forcing password-only access without shutting down your session. The tool was built using GitHub Copilot.
While Touch ID offers daily convenience, certain high-risk situations—border crossings, law enforcement encounters, or hostile environments—demand password-only protection. PanicLock fills a macOS gap by restoring biometric settings automatically after password re-entry, letting users maintain both convenience and security without the time cost of full shutdown.
