Visit k7.kaybi.dev ↗What is K7?
K7 is an open-source, self-hosted media server designed for sharing content within a small circle of family and friends. It supports movies, TV series, and music stored locally, with features including transcoding via ffmpeg, federation between instances, guest mode, and optional 2FA and OIDC authentication. The project was built using Cursor and Copilot.
The platform offers clients for web, Android, Windows, iOS, and Mac, all with the same interface. It includes keyboard navigation, remote playback control across devices, Chromecast support, and OpenSubsonic compatibility for third-party apps. Users can customize their home page, set server-wide defaults, and configure navigation shortcuts, with each user able to override admin settings.
