OpenResearch
Local-first workspace for research agents and automated research
Visit openresearch.sh ↗What is OpenResearch?
OpenResearch is a desktop application that turns AI coding agents into research agents capable of reviewing literature, developing hypotheses, running experiments, and producing research artifacts. It provides a local dashboard where users can assign each research direction to its own agent, which work in parallel within isolated git worktrees using existing tools and compute. The platform supports Claude Code and other coding agents, and includes a compute marketplace for scaling to remote resources.
Designed for researchers and scientists, OpenResearch emphasizes reproducibility through git-native experiment tracking and variant management. It runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows, with both local and managed compute options. The project is built using Claude Code as a research agent framework.
