Message Maddie is an interactive web application that lets anyone submit a message to be instantly printed on a thermal receipt printer connected to a Raspberry Pi. Users enter their name and message (up to 1000 characters), complete a CAPTCHA verification, and their submission prints in real time. The project was built with Cursor and uses a Convex database with a Netlify-hosted frontend.
Designed as a personal art project and community experience, it has received over 1300 messages from around the world. The creator has open-sourced the full project, enabling others to build similar setups for personal communication, family connection during separation, or long-distance relationship messaging.
