Kern
Open source, self-hosted Git-based CMS with AI schema generation
Visit kerncms.com ↗What is Kern?
Kern is a self-hosted, open source headless CMS that connects directly to your GitHub repository. It automatically generates content schemas and TypeScript types as you write, eliminating manual boilerplate. The built-in media editor handles cropping, compression, and filtering, while multi-tenant support lets you manage unlimited projects and invite clients with role-based access from a single deployment.
The platform includes privacy-first analytics without cookies or third-party scripts, and a Smart Scan feature that finds hardcoded strings in your codebase, generates content files, and rewrites code to use the CMS automatically. Kern is free, open source under AGPL-3.0, and works with Astro, Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, and other frameworks. The maker built it with Claude Code.
