ISON

ISON (Interchange Simple Object Notation) is an open-source data format designed to reduce token usage when injecting structured data into large language models. It achieves 30-70% fewer tokens than JSON while maintaining readability by leveraging familiar table-like structures that LLMs encounter frequently in training data. The format works across Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, and Go.

ISION serves developers building RAG pipelines, multi-agent AI systems, and LLM integrations who need to fit more context into limited token windows. The ecosystem includes ISONL for streaming datasets, ISONantic for type-safe validation, integrations with LangChain and LlamaIndex, and ISONGraph for knowledge graphs. All components are MIT-licensed and community-driven.
