Visit fx.sh ↗What is fx?
fx is a minimal coding agent harness and command-line tool designed for research and embedding into larger systems. Written in Zig and distributed as a 6.44 MiB native binary, it prioritizes performance and minimalism. The tool works with any AI model—local servers like Ollama, cloud providers like OpenAI and xAI, or the Vercel AI Gateway—and maintains a Unix shell-like interface rather than an IDE-style terminal experience.
The agent supports interactive sessions, one-shot requests via `fx ask`, and embedding through libfx for custom applications. It includes extensibility through skills and MCP servers, preserves terminal scrollback history, and runs without background services. fx is open source under Apache-2.0 and model-agnostic, suitable for both local inference and cloud-based workflows.
