Foremerge
Coordination protocol for AI coding agents built above Git
Visit foremerge.com ↗What is Foremerge?
Foremerge is an open-source coordination layer that helps multiple AI coding agents work on the same repository without creating semantic conflicts. Agents maintain isolated worktrees while sharing intent, semantic claims, and change plans through a shared SQLite store in the Git directory. Before writing code, each agent publishes what it plans to change and how, allowing Foremerge to detect conflicts like one agent replacing a class while another extends it—issues Git cannot catch.
The tool is designed for teams running multiple coding agents (Claude, Codex, Cursor) in parallel. It provides a CLI, JSON API, and MCP server with 18 tools that integrate directly into supported IDEs. Foremerge runs configured verification checks before accepting changes, ensuring that agent claims are validated against actual code state.
