DevIndex is a searchable ranking of the world's most active open-source contributors on GitHub, sorted by total lifetime commits. It addresses the gap in existing rankings that either cap out early or miss prolific developers with hundreds of thousands of contributions. The site runs entirely on GitHub Pages with no backend API, using a Node.js pipeline on GitHub Actions to continuously update contributor data via GitHub's GraphQL API.

The interface handles 50,000 data-rich records in the browser through streaming NDJSON parsing and virtual fields, enabling instant loading of top results while background-loading the full dataset. Developers can opt out via a cryptographic verification system. The maker says it was built with an AI agent in one month.
