Zen C
Modern systems language that compiles to human-readable C11 with zero overhead
Visit zenc-lang.org ↗What is Zen C?
Zen C is a strictly typed systems programming language designed for kernel development, game engines, embedded systems, and high-frequency trading. It compiles directly to clean, readable GNU C11 code while providing modern developer experience features like pattern matching, traits, ownership semantics, and async/await. The language maintains 100% C ABI compatibility, allowing direct calls to any C function and use of any C struct without FFI boilerplate.
The project emphasizes transparency and control: code transpiles to pure C without hidden runtimes, generics are specialized at compile time with zero overhead, and memory management uses an implicit Drop trait to prevent leaks without garbage collection. Zen C works with GCC, Clang, TCC, and other compilers, and includes tooling support via VS Code extension and Vim/Neovim plugins.
