wterm
Terminal emulator for the web, renders to DOM with native text selection
Visit wterm.dev ↗What is wterm?
wterm is a web-based terminal emulator that renders directly to the DOM, enabling native text selection, copy/paste, find, and accessibility features. It offers pluggable cores: a lightweight Zig/WASM core (~26 KB) or Ghostty VT emulation for richer terminal compatibility. The project is built with Zig compiled to WebAssembly for near-native performance.
Designed for developers and web applications, wterm supports framework bindings for React, Vue 3, and Svelte. Key features include dirty-row tracking for efficient rendering, 24-bit color support, wide Unicode cells for CJK and emoji, alternate screen buffers for vim and similar tools, configurable scrollback history, and WebSocket transport for connecting to PTY backends.
