Reverse-tunnel webhooks to your local machine for testing
Visit whim-proxy.kakwalab.dev ↗What is whim-proxy?
Whim-proxy is a client-server tool that lets developers test webhook consumers without exposing their local machines to the internet. It works by receiving webhook events on a public server, then forwarding them to a client running on your laptop via WebSocket tunnels, which finally delivers them to your local webhook endpoint. This solves the problem of testing webhooks from third-party services like GitHub or Stripe that can't reach NATed or firewalled development machines.
The tool provides downloadable clients for Linux, macOS, and Windows. A public instance is available for immediate use without deployment. The maker says it was built with Claude, going from initial concept to a working prototype in about two hours.
