VidBee is a free, open-source desktop application that downloads media from over 1000 sites including YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, or imports local files. It creates searchable transcripts with speaker labels and timestamped playback using local speech recognition models like Whisper and SenseVoice, keeping media private on your computer.
Users can summarize, translate, or ask questions about transcripts using their choice of AI provider. The app offers download queues, RSS subscriptions, flexible exports, and metadata controls. According to the project's documentation, it was built using Claude Code tools.
