varve
Decision memory for AI coding agents, local-first and MCP-native
Visit varve.sh ↗What is varve?
Varve is a local-first tool that stores decisions made during AI-assisted coding sessions. It works with Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP-compatible agent. Decisions remain inactive until a human explicitly accepts them, after which they bind to the codebase and are packed into future sessions within a token budget. The tool tracks evidence, scope, and lifecycle for each decision through an append-only log.
Each decision carries metadata about which files it governs and what evidence supports it. When commits contradict a decision, violations are recorded but the decision remains binding. Varve was built with Claude Code, according to the project repository.
