Visit jahala.github.io ↗What is tilth?
tilth is a command-line tool and MCP server that helps developers and AI agents understand code structure without wasting tokens or context. It parses code using tree-sitter to answer questions that text search cannot: where symbols are defined, who calls them, what they call, and what depends on files. Large files return as structural outlines with line ranges; small files return whole.
Designed for AI agents working with code, tilth reduces round-trip queries by providing answers in single calls. It supports symbol search with definitions ranked first, caller analysis, dependency mapping, and function-level diffs. The tool runs as a single binary with no indexing or setup required, and the maker says it was built entirely with Claude Opus.
