Terax
Lightweight terminal-first AI-native development workspace
Visit terax.app ↗What is Terax?
Terax is an open-source development environment combining a terminal, code editor, AI agents, and web preview in a single interface. Built with Tauri 2, Rust, and React 19, it runs as a 7–8 MB native app with 300 ms cold start and no telemetry or account requirement. The terminal features a WebGL renderer for smooth scrolling, multi-tab support, and keyboard-first navigation.
The integrated AI workflow lets agents read files, run commands, and propose code changes as reviewable diffs before touching disk. Users can bring their own API keys or run models fully locally via LM Studio. Additional features include a Vim-capable editor with context-aware autocomplete, git source control with visual commit graphs, and live preview for dev servers like Vite and Next.js.
