SpecWeave
Hand off AI coding work between tools without losing context or progress
Visit spec-weave.com ↗What is SpecWeave?
SpecWeave is a CLI tool that enables developers to switch between AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok, and others) mid-task without losing work. It stores specifications, tasks, and progress in git-based spec files, allowing another tool or account to pick up exactly where the previous one stopped. The project describes itself as providing software engineering discipline for AI coding.
The tool works by organizing work into single spec.md files that define problems, acceptance criteria, and tasks. When an agent hits token limits or usage caps, running `specweave handoff` records the stopping point and pushes uncommitted edits to git. A second session then runs `specweave pickup` to restore the full context and continue. It's MIT licensed, requires no account, and works locally with popular AI coding platforms.
