SlopOS
An x86_64 operating system kernel written in Rust by AI agents
Visit slopos.sloplabs.net ↗What is SlopOS?
SlopOS is a from-scratch operating system kernel built entirely in Rust by AI agents. It runs on real hardware, featuring a preemptive SMP scheduler, demand paging, an Intel Xe display driver, ACPI interpreter, and a complete TCP/IP stack. The project prioritizes safety by isolating all unsafe code in a single crate verified by Verus, an SMT-backed proof system that mathematically proves memory safety invariants.
The operating system includes a desktop environment with a compositor, terminal, file manager, and system monitor. Developers can boot SlopOS in QEMU with five commands and run over 2,500 tests. The makers used Claude Code to build this project, as documented in the repository.
