sandboxd is an open-source, self-hosted platform that lets you build working applications from natural language prompts. An AI coding agent runs inside isolated containers on your infrastructure, generating real apps that appear at live preview URLs. You control the server, code, and data with no vendor lock-in.
The platform supports three workflows: building apps from prompts, running 80+ pre-configured open-source applications like Ghost and n8n, or driving everything via API calls. It includes an optional browser console for chatting with the agent, editing files, reviewing diffs, and reverting changes. Installation is a single command with just Docker required—no Kubernetes or separate database.
