Refrain

Refrain is a CLI tool that uses AI to generate reproducible browser automation runbooks from a single goal, then replays them deterministically without LLM calls. Users describe what they want (e.g., "log in and export data"), and an AI agent explores the site to record actions as a version-controllable YAML file. Subsequent reruns execute for free with zero AI cost.

The tool includes self-healing capabilities that auto-patch broken selectors when UIs change, using a multi-stage recovery pipeline that tries deterministic fixes first before falling back to AI. Built-in approval workflows via Slack, Teams, or Discord keep humans in the loop. It supports multiple AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Azure, Bedrock, Vertex) and costs roughly 86% less per run than competing AI agents.
