Octocode is a code research platform that helps AI agents and developers search and understand codebases across GitHub, npm, and local repositories. It provides 13 tools including code search, AST navigation, PR history tracking, and package discovery, all returning results with citations rather than guesses. The platform works as an MCP server or command-line tool with no indexing required.

Built with a Rust engine for speed and token efficiency, Octocode integrates into AI assistants like Cursor and Claude Code, or runs standalone via the terminal. It reads code as read-only, strips secrets from inputs and outputs, and is free and open source under the MIT license.
