NewsMap aggregates news articles and pins them to precise locations on an interactive map, helping users discover stories happening in their neighborhood. Currently focused on the San Francisco Bay Area, it processes over a thousand articles daily from 40+ sources. The app uses an LLM to extract locations from article text, then verifies and geocodes them with Google Places for accurate positioning.
Designed for mobile, NewsMap makes it easy to explore what's happening nearby at a glance. The creator built it using AI coding tools to bring the concept to life.
