Visit hormuztrail.com ↗What is Hormuz Trail?
Hormuz Trail is a browser-based strategy game that reimagines the classic Oregon Trail formula in a modern geopolitical setting. Players captain a merchant ship through the Strait of Hormuz, making decisions about crew, cargo, and equipment while navigating hazards like mines and narrow passages. The game combines resource management with narrative choices, offering multiple paths through a scenario-based simulation.
The creator built this as a black-box AI coding exercise using multiple models: Claude Opus and GPT-5.4 for planning, Cursor Composer for implementation, Claude Sonnet for review, and Gemini 3.1 for UI work. Asset generation came from Layer.ai. The project took three weekends and approximately $200 in combined tool costs.
