fakecloud
Local AWS cloud emulator for integration tests and development
Visit fakecloud.dev ↗What is fakecloud?
fakecloud is a free, open-source AWS emulator that lets you run integration tests against a local environment without requiring an account, auth token, or paid tier. It provides a single binary that works as a drop-in replacement for pointing AWS SDKs, CLI tools, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks at localhost. The project implements 105 AWS services with 7,508 operations and claims 100% conformance across all Smithy-model-generated test variants.
Developers can use standard AWS clients against the local emulator, then leverage first-party test SDKs for TypeScript, Python, Go, PHP, Java, and Rust to inspect side effects and control async behavior. The emulator supports real cross-service integrations like S3 notifications, EventBridge routing, and Lambda invocations, plus stateful services including Lambda runtimes, RDS databases, and ElastiCache instances running as containers.
