Visit eve.dev ↗What is eve?
eve is a framework for building AI agents with a filesystem-based structure that prioritizes inspectability and operational clarity. Agents are defined through conventional directories—an instructions.md file serves as the core system prompt, with optional tools, skills, channels, and schedules added as needed. The framework integrates natively with React and Next.js through a withEve() wrapper, enabling agents to run in the same dev server and deployment as existing applications.
Designed for developers building autonomous systems, eve supports durable execution with Postgres-backed state persistence, isolated Docker sandboxes, and multiple deployment options including self-hosting. Agents can be surfaced across channels like Slack, Discord, web chat, and email, with built-in support for human-in-the-loop checkpoints. The project is open-source and built on conventional SDKs, allowing full customization of backends and runtimes.
