cmux
macOS terminal for multitasking, built for AI coding agents
Visit cmux.com ↗What is cmux?
cmux is a free, open-source native macOS terminal designed to help developers manage multiple AI coding agents and CLI tools simultaneously. Built on Ghostty's rendering engine, it features vertical tabs with git branch and port information, notification rings that alert when agents need attention, split panes for organizing work, and an in-app browser with a scriptable API.
The terminal supports all major AI coding agents including Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Gemini CLI, and can orchestrate multiple agents as native panes rather than hidden processes. It includes SSH support for remote work, keyboard shortcuts for automation, and a programmable CLI and socket API. The project is built with Swift and AppKit for native performance without Electron, and is GPL-licensed.
