Chronicle is a desktop and web application designed for novelists to write, organize, and publish their work. It offers distraction-free writing with typewriter mode, visual story timelines, character codexes, and interactive presence matrices. The app includes built-in cover design, offline text-to-speech proofreading via KokoroJS, and exports to print-ready PDF and EPUB 3 formats.
The creator built Chronicle to be completely private and AI-free for writing, with all processing happening locally on your device. It supports markdown and EPUB import, version snapshots with visual diff comparison, and WebDAV cloud storage. Available as both a free desktop app for Windows and macOS and as a web editor, Chronicle is fully open-source on GitHub.
