beats

beats is a 24/7 lofi radio station where Claude composes every song in real time. Unlike traditional radio with playlists, each track is generated fresh as it plays. SuperCollider, a professional audio synthesis engine, renders the music on a Linux server, and listeners stream the MP3 output to their browsers. The creator built this with Claude Code to explore whether AI could compose coherent, listenable music.

The project uses 17 custom synthesizer definitions covering drums, melodic instruments, sustained sounds, and textures. All listeners hear the same composition at the same time, creating a true shared radio experience rather than individual playback. The station runs continuously as long as the DJ session remains active.
