BAREMAIL
Minimalist Gmail client for low-bandwidth environments
Visit baremail.app ↗What is BAREMAIL?
BAREMAIL is a Progressive Web App that connects directly to Gmail, designed for situations where standard email clients are too heavy. The entire app shell weighs under 60KB gzipped and is cached by a service worker, so repeat visits use zero bytes. It works offline, supports keyboard shortcuts in vim style, and requires no installation or backend server.
The tool is built for airplane wifi, rural networks, and developing regions where bandwidth is limited. Features include inbox management, starring, archiving, plain text compose and reply, search via Gmail syntax, and light/dark themes. The maker says it was built with AI coding tools. It's open source under MIT license and can be self-hosted or forked.
