ast-bro
AST-based code navigation toolkit for LLM agents
Visit ast-bro.gitlawb.app ↗What is ast-bro?
ast-bro is a fast code-navigation and analysis tool designed to help LLM coding agents understand unfamiliar codebases efficiently. It maps file structure, resolves public APIs, traces dependencies and calls between symbols, analyzes the impact of code changes, and performs semantic search—all while reducing token usage by up to 95%. The tool supports 14 programming languages and integrates with Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini, and other AI coding environments.
Built in Rust using tree-sitter for AST parsing, ast-bro provides 19 analysis commands including structural mapping, dependency graphs, call graphs, impact analysis, and context packing. It also offers an MCP server for native integration with Claude Code. The project was formerly called ast-outline and includes automatic migration of cached data and configuration files.
