ASE (Agentic Software Engineering)
Open source toolkit fusing AI coding agents with software engineering practices
Visit ase.tools ↗What is ASE (Agentic Software Engineering)?
ASE is an open source companion toolkit by Dr. Ralf S. Engelschall that integrates agentic AI coding with traditional software engineering methodology. It works as a plugin for Anthropic Claude Code CLI, with support for GitHub Copilot CLI and OpenAI Codex CLI. The toolkit includes 49 agent skills, agent hooks, sub-agents, a Model-Context-Protocol service, and a CLI interface.
Designed for software developers and architects, ASE automates recurring tasks while keeping users in control of the development process. It covers activities from brainstorming and web research through code analysis, refactoring, and review. The maker built it with Claude Code to help developers boost productivity while maintaining code quality and engineering standards.
