ASCII Keyboard
macOS menu bar app that converts your typing into ASCII art
Visit asciikeyboard.app ↗What is ASCII Keyboard?
ASCII Keyboard is a macOS menu bar utility that converts text input into FIGlet-style ASCII art. Type normally in any application—Slack, Discord, Terminal, Notes—and the app outputs beautifully formatted ASCII characters directly where your cursor is. It includes 20 unique fonts ranging from Standard and Banner to Doom and Star Wars styles, with a live preview window showing your art as you type.
The app runs quietly in your menu bar with keyboard shortcuts for quick access (ESC to cancel, Backspace to edit). It works everywhere you type and can launch automatically at login. The maker says it was built with Claude Opus 4.5 and Swift.
