ƜackDown
Native Windows Markdown viewer that opens instantly, built with Rust and GPU
Visit bezkom.github.io ↗What is ƜackDown?
ƜackDown is a Windows desktop application for viewing Markdown files. It launches in milliseconds by rendering only the visible portion of a document before displaying the window, then progressively renders the rest in the background. The app uses Direct2D and DirectWrite for GPU-accelerated rendering instead of embedding a browser, resulting in a 3 MB executable with no external dependencies, accounts, or background services. Built entirely with Claude Code under human direction, it includes six themes, three embedded font families, and full emoji support.
